This Privacy Policy explains how Omahelper ("Omahelper," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, shares and protects information when you use omahelper.com and our related forms and communications (the "Site"). Omahelper is a local referral platform that connects customers with independent service providers in the Omaha metro. By using the Site, you agree to this Policy.
Information we collect
Information you give us. When you request a quote we collect what you enter: your name, phone number, email (optional), zip code or address, the service you need and any job details you type. When you apply as a pro we collect your business name, contact details, service area, trade and related business information. If you contact us or leave a review, we collect what you send.
Information we collect automatically. We log basic technical data such as IP address, browser type, device, referring page and pages viewed, to keep the Site secure and understand what's useful.
We do not intentionally collect sensitive personal data (such as government ID numbers, financial account numbers, health data or precise geolocation), and we ask that you not submit it through the Site.
How we use your information
We use your information to connect you with relevant local pros; let those pros and Omahelper contact you about your request; operate, secure and improve the Site; respond to your messages; and, if you opt in, send occasional local tips and seasonal reminders. We process this information to provide the service you requested and for our legitimate business operations.
How we share your information
With the pros you're matched to. When you submit a quote request, we share that request — including your contact details and job information — with up to three vetted local pros so they can contact you about that job. That sharing is the entire purpose of the service. Once a pro receives your information, that pro handles it under its own practices, and Omahelper is not responsible for what an independent pro does with it. Any service relationship and any information you later exchange is between you and the pro.
With service vendors. We may share information with vendors who host our Site, send our email or text messages, or provide analytics, strictly to perform those services for us.
For legal and safety reasons. We may disclose information if required by law, to respond to legal process, to enforce our Terms, or to protect the rights, safety or property of Omahelper, our users or the public.
Business transfers. If Omahelper is involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, information may transfer as part of that transaction.
We do not sell your information
We do not sell your personal information to data brokers, advertisers or anyone else, and we do not use it for third-party targeted advertising. Consistent with the Nebraska Data Privacy Act, we do not sell sensitive data. Sharing your request with the pros you asked us to reach is part of delivering the service you requested — it is not a sale of your data.
Text messages (SMS)
If you provide your phone number and opt in, Omahelper and/or the pros we match you with may text you about your request. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help. Consent to receive text messages is not a condition of using the Site or of any purchase. Your mobile opt-in and phone number are not shared with third parties for their own marketing.
Cookies and analytics
We use a session cookie for form security (to protect our forms against cross-site request forgery). We also use Google Analytics, a web-analytics service provided by Google, to understand how visitors use the Site. Google Analytics sets its own cookies and collects information such as your IP address, device and browser type, referring page and the pages you view; Google processes that information on our behalf under its terms. We use it only to measure and improve the Site — not for third-party advertising, and we do not use it to build advertising profiles across other websites. You can control or block cookies through your browser settings, and you can opt out of Google Analytics with Google's browser opt-out add-on. Blocking some cookies may affect how the Site works.
Data retention
We keep your information only as long as needed to provide the service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes and enforce our agreements, then delete or de-identify it.
How we protect your information
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards designed to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your privacy rights
Nebraska residents, and others where applicable law provides these rights, may ask us to:
- confirm whether we process your personal data and access it;
- correct inaccuracies in your personal data;
- delete personal data we hold about you;
- obtain a portable copy of data you provided; and
- opt out of any sale of personal data or targeted advertising (note: we do not sell data or run targeted advertising).
To exercise these rights, email hello@omahelper.com. We will verify your request and respond within the time required by law. There is no charge for a reasonable request. If we deny your request, you may appeal by replying to our response or emailing us with "Privacy Appeal" in the subject line; if your appeal is denied, you may contact the Nebraska Attorney General's Office.
Children's privacy
The Site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information, contact us and we will delete it.
Third-party sites
The Site may link to third-party websites and pros' own sites. This Policy does not cover their practices; please review their privacy policies.
Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. Changes take effect when posted, and the "Last updated" date above will reflect the most recent version.
