After months sealed up against the cold, an Omaha home collects a winter's worth of dust, salt, grime and stale air. Spring is the time to reset it, inside and out. Here's the annual list worth doing (or delegating).
Inside
- Deep clean the whole house, including baseboards, blinds, ceiling fans and inside the oven and fridge
- Clean carpets and area rugs to lift out winter salt and grime
- Wash windows inside and out to reclaim the daylight
- Flip and vacuum mattresses, launder curtains
- Replace HVAC filters and test detectors
A one-time deep clean plus a carpet cleaning is the fastest way to make the whole house feel new again, especially if you've got winter mud and pet season behind you.
Outside
- Pressure wash the driveway, walkways, siding and deck to strip winter salt and mildew
- Clean the gutters after the spring thaw
- Wash exterior windows and screens
- Clear beds and edge before mulch goes down
Pressure washing the exterior and a round of window cleaning does more for curb appeal than almost anything else, and it's the perfect prep before painting or listing a home.
Tackle exterior work on a dry week in April once the freeze risk is gone. Bundle the deep clean, carpets and windows into one booking and most cleaners will give you a better rate.
